Standing in front of Mount Owen is Mr. William Owen, for whom the mountain was named. He was a well known Wyoming pioneer and early engineer and surveyor in the territory. In 1898, he and three others were the first to climb the Grand Teton, or American Matterhorn. Grand Teton National Park, 1933.
