Lincoln's Cottage at the Soldiers Home

This house served as President Lincoln's home during the warm months from 1862 - 65. It was at a higher elevation that the White House and a few degrees cooler. Most days, Lincoln would travel from the cottage to his office in the White House. The cottage was on the grounds of the Soldiers Home, a retirement facility for old and infirm military veterans.
